those that have been in my shoes made a few suggestions
“just ignore the haters Jin they confused”
I wouldn’t call it hatin’ I listen’ to their views
“this new you just doesn’t quite sound right”
can someone please tell me exactly what I should sound like
they wondering like “who you targeting man?”
even accusing every move as just a marketing plan
now don’t be hasty no that’s not the case
is it cause lately I been more vocal ’bout my faith?
what’s my agenda? that’s open for debate
I ain’t tryin’ to be defensive I just hope you can relate
yet in still some find it so odd
when all I did was learn to let go and let God
religions just a word don’t get caught up in the text
walking in grace these are just the first few steps

for the longest time I was livin’ blind indeed
and I would only turn to God during times of need
like Dear God give me this Dear God give me that
never did I reflect on what I was giving Him back
the truth is the Lord don’t need nothin’ from me
meanwhile my hands out wantin’ somethin’ for free
years passed as the blessings kept comin’ from above
I learned lessons and the definition of love
for this unworthy son that He’s been so patient with
forever growing an intimate relationship
is what I seek I’m giving Him the best of me
this cross on my chest is not just an accessory
why fight it I’m savin’ up my energy
liftin’ up my loved ones and prayin’ for my enemies
faith is a must I don’t have all the answers
I do know You are the vine and we are the branches

brothers and sisters we’re one big family
a Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity
at least that’s what wikipedia writes
I just know that Jesus is all I need in my life
why only celebrate every 25th of December
God’s gift to mankind sent to uplift every member
if I surrender I know that He’ll provide
I don’t have to touch Him to know that He is by my side
even my mom sees the way that I’ve become
it warms my heart to know that she’s prayin’ for her son
I thank You Lord for doin’ work in her life
as for THE WIFE I pray that you’ll show her the light
I can attend church and study the scriptures
but if I don’t know God somethings wrong with the picture
with no regrets I made the decision
this is not about religion it’s the way that I’m livin’
