Set on a quest to decipher—from a psychological, sociological, historical, cultural, and erotic perspective—the fiery emotions that shoes exert on most women (and on quite some men), God Save my Shoes went from New York to Los Angeles, Paris to Milan, Toronto and Florence to interview extreme shoe collectors, everyday women, such celebrities as burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, Paris opera ballerina Marie-Agnès Gillot, and Baroness Von Neumann. We also turned to fashion historian Valerie Steele of the FIT in New York, Toronto museum curator Elizabeth Semmelhack, women’s marketing expert Mary Lou Quinlan, industry mogul Vincent Camuto, Filipa Fino of Vogue USA, Caroline de Fayet of ELLE magazine, Moulin Rouge dancers, shoe fetishists, and such designers as Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Walter Steiger, Pierre Hardy, Bruno Frisoni, Vivienne Westwood, Robert Clergerie… all those that play a role in the ubiquitous shoe phenomenon!

The Beatles – Happiness Is A Warm Gun 1968
“Happiness Is a Warm Gun” is a song by The Beatles, featured on the eponymous double-disc album The Beatles, also known as The White Album. It is primarily a John Lennon composition, credited to Lennon/McCartney. The original working title of the song was “Happiness Is a Warm Gun in Your Hand,” which was inspired by a magazine containing the phrase, which in turn parodied “Happiness Is a Warm Puppy,” a Peanuts book written and illustrated by Charles Schulz in 1962.
According to Lennon, the title came from the cover of a gun magazine that producer George Martin showed him: “I think he showed me a cover of a magazine that said ‘Happiness Is a Warm Gun.’ It was a gun magazine. I just thought it was a fantastic, insane thing to say. A warm gun means you just shot something.”
One of the most salient musical features of the song is its frequent shifts in time signature. Beginning in 4/4 time, the song has one measure of 6/4 time for the line “She’s well acquainted…” before changing back to 4/4 time for the next line (“The man in the crowd…”). It then uses a measure of 5/4 followed by a measure of 4/4 for the line “a soap impression of his wife which he ate and donated to the National Trust” . The subsequent guitar solo features a measure of 9/8 followed by two measures of 12/8. This pattern is repeated in the “I need a fix…” section. This gives way to alternating 9/8 and 10/8 measures in the “Mother Superior…” section before returning to 4/4 for the doo-wop style ending. The “When I hold you…” section slows down dramatically and employs one of the few examples of polyrhythm in the Beatles’ repertoire: the drums play a duple rhythm while the rest of the instruments and background vocals use a triplet rhythm.
Many different interpretations of the song have been offered down the years. It has been said that, in addition to the obvious reference mentioned above, the “Warm Gun” could also be due to Lennon’s sexual desire for Yoko Ono and also to his well documented problems with heroin at the time of the recording of the White Album (in this case, the gun being a loaded syringe, although Lennon claimed to have snorted, rather than injected, heroin during the time that he used the drug). In his 1980 interview Lennon admitted to the double meaning of guns and sexuality (“that was the beginning of my relationship with Yoko and I was very sexually oriented then”) but denied the song had anything to do with drugs.

The Nexus turns their back on Wade Barrett

The Nexus turns their back on Wade Barrett and John Cena attacks Wade Barrett, then The Nexus tells Wade to rehire John Cena.
The Nexus have finally turned their back on leader Wade Barrett and instead issued an ultimatum to their stubborn leader.
Following a series of attacks on Nexus members by John Cena, Wade Barrett called out the fired superstar on Monday Night RAW and reiterated that he would never hire him back into the WWE.
After conducting a RAW interview via satellite from his hotel room, David Otunga was the first to be confronted and attacked by Cena. Anticipating a Cena strike, however, Husky Harris ambushed the former WWE employee from behind.
Despite the trap, though, Cena managed to beat back his attackers, with Otunga bolting for the door, leaving his Nexus cohort behind to feel the pain.
Then, in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater also felt the wrath of Cena when they lost their WWE Tag Team Championships.
Slipping out from under the ring to rattle his former Nexus cohorts, Cena caused a unexpected distraction which allowed Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov to capitalise and capture the WWE Tag Team Titles, leading to scenes of utter jubilation for the two.
Cena’s latest antics proved to be the last straw for Nexus leader Barrett, who decided enough was enough and opted to call John Cena out to the ring.
The cocky Englishman informed Cena that he would never hire him back into the WWE. In that case, Cena informed him, he will never stop ambushing The Nexus
It was then, Barrett ordered his Nexus minions to attack. In a moment of utter defiance, however, each member of the band of outlaws turned their backs on Barrett, walking instead to the locker room area.
With no-one to back up the Englishman, Cena charged at Barrett, who somehow managed to get away and catch up with his Nexus cohorts.
Once in the locker room area, the Nexus leader beelined for David Otunga, who told Barrett he has two options: Either he hires Cena back next week, or the Englishman is no longer a part of The Nexus!
My Thoughts :
On Monday night’s Raw, John Cena moved one step closer to being rehired. That’s good news, because I’ve really missed him since he’s been gone.
Oh, that’s right. He never left, did he?
I’ve enjoyed the ongoing feud between Cena and The Nexus for the most part, but I’m not a big fan of how the free-or-fired stipulation is playing out.
Everyone with the slightest bit of sense knew that Cena wasn’t going to stay fired, but the fact that he didn’t sell the firing for even a single episode of Raw and could very well be reinstated as soon as next week’s show is kind of lame. My guess is that WWE didn’t want to take the chance of having Cena fans stop watching Raw if he wasn’t on the show.
Monday’s episode did end with an interesting twist, however. Cena told Wade Barrett that he would continue to make life miserable for The Nexus until Barrett reinstated him. Barrett refused and ordered the other Nexus members to attack Cena, but they staged a mutiny and left Barrett to fend for himself.
After Barrett ran away from Cena, David Otunga told him that if he didn’t rehire Cena, he would be the one to be kicked out of the group.
At this point, it’s probably for the best if Cena is rehired and WWE just moves on to the next phase of the story line.

Because I think you are absolutely amazing, I’m going to air some of my personal laundry so people can fully wrap their mind around what a great person you are. Earlier, I told you that you were the Kahlan to my Cara, I don’t know if a truer statement has ever been made. No, we didn’t hate each other when we first met, but within Kahlan and Cara’s later relationship, I think we fit perfectly. You are more feminine, emotional, and more of a romantic, while I’m sarcastic and am prone to use violence as the first line of defense. But it’s more than that. I don’t think ‘YT bestie’ really describes our relationship, not from my standpoint, anyway. I’m cocky beyond belief, a person has to be blind to not see that, but I get a lot of critisim that isn’t asked for. I get a lot of that I didn’t provoke. I get a lot undeserved ridicule. People expect nothing of me, and act like when I do do something good, it’s some shocking event. I’m one role; the bitch. That’s how most people see me, and I could honestly care less. Much like Cara. But I was never judged by you. A mean word hasn’t come out of your mouth about me, not even in a joking fashion. You don’t even realize how amazing you are. You are one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and you are always quick to share it with the people around you. I don’t spoil you with these gifts because I want to be the best present giver (even though that may be part of the reason ;D), I do it because you deserve everything you can get, and I don’t think enough people have recognized you for what you are; an amazing person. If I can brighten a few days in the month by giving you these little gifts, then it’s worth the hours that I spend making them. You make me laugh til I can’t breathe, and even though I haven’t had a crisis, I know I could come to you if there were one. I start off all new relationships by giving zero trust, and you have gained it all, by doing virtually nothing. This all may seem stupid to say, seeing as I don’t actually know you in real life – but a friend is a friend. And you are one of the best.
